Excitement as D-day nears

By Jacky Achan

Excitement getting to peak levels among Ugandans as Kampala – and Uganda at large – prepares to host its first major global sporting event, the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championship.

We are only two days away!

Social media is abuzz with talk on the upcoming event.

It’s a much-talked about topic, no doubt due its significance. On top of that, it’s a Ugandan first. The Pearl of Africa joins the likes of Morocco, South Africa and neighbouring Kernya as the only African nations to have hosted the event.

Many locals are keen on welcoming the athletes to explore the beauty that makes Uganda one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

On Sunday, fans are expected to stream in starting 10am local time amid plenty of entertainment.

Hundreds of athletes from as many as 60 nations are expected to take part on Sunday.
