Medalist to boost Ethiopian challenge

Guiyang senior men and women cross country medalists and Rio 2016 Olympic Games medalists have been named on the Ethiopia national team that will be challenging for honours at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships Kampala 2017.

Senior men silver medalist Edris Muktar and Senior women silver medalist Sembere  Tiferi  in the last edition held in the Chinese City of Guiyang will be  among the competitors who will be vying for medals  at Kololo Independence Grounds  on  March 26. Over 60 countries have confirmed sending teams to the biennial event.

Muktar will be joined by Hagos, Hadis in the senior men event. Hadis won a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games last year.

The Ethiopian team also has Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medalist in the 1500m Genzembe Dibaba, who will be competing in the mixed relays team with world indoor champion Kejelcha Yomif.
